The Making of Facing Worlds

Rock Paper Shotgun has an interesting article covering the making of Facing Worlds a long time fan favourite map originally created for UT99.

Designed by Innox (Cedric Florentino) some 20 years ago tt has been ported and cloned to almost every FPS imaginable, including the (never to be released?) UT4, and is rarely dropped from any server rotation.

A couple of take-aways form the article

  • It was the result of an experiment reversing the accepted map making process where Innox dedicated more poly to the structure than the landscape
  • Epic’s Jim Brown described it as “masterpiece of simplicity”
